It’s been some time since I’ve false started this blog, but I think it’s high time I give it a real shot. I think a large part of my problem was that I was going for a generic “no offence” pagan blog, and honestly that isn’t me. What is me, is an uber passionate nerdy historian who thinks everyone should have a voice, regardless of whether or not it might set some folks off. So, for my first real journey into this sphere, I want to touch on a subject people might get a bit miffed over. That’s right boys and girls, I am not a Liberal. I’m an extremely limited government Constitutionalist with more than a few Conservative leanings, and yes, I am a pagan.

If there’s one misconception about modern paganism that needs dispelling it is that paganism is synonymous with left wing, modern feminist, “woke” ideology. I won’t lie, there’s more than enough of that to go around, and if you frequent social media, the lions share of the larger groups tend to be run by folks with this mindset. As such, the groups are heavily curated (read censored) and tend to extend only to others who walk in lockstep with them. Which, of course, means that any dissenting or alternative voices are readily silenced in the name of “tolerance.” The truth is that Paganism simply doesn’t belong to any specific political ideology. Like any good spiritual outlet, it transcends human politics, and always should.

Now I’m sure there are a fair few gatekeepers out there who, if they read this, would ardently disagree with me. That’s perfectly fine, but it doesn’t change the fact that we’re here, and we’ve always been here, and we’re not going anywhere. You can scream at us, censor us, rail against us. Shout about how “we’re not true pagans,” but we’ll still be here. We’ll be in your groups, your covens, your groves, and at your gatherings. No, we’re not all racists, or homophobes, or transphobes. We’re just people. People who want the liberties of what this nation was founded on to remain intact. People who don’t want to be compelled to use certain types of speech for fear of government reproach. People who, for the most part, want to be left alone, and could care less what you do with your private lives.

We’re not after your rights, we just don’t want you to infringe on ours. Yes, there are those who might think otherwise, and to them, I say a very heartfelt “go fuck yourself.” They are not the majority, just like the multi-gendered “pronoun crowd” are a majority within the left. So, there you have it. My crazy rant to start off 2025. I plan on using this platform for a great many things. Takes on paganism, pop culture, tea, a bit of politics, and whatever else comes down the pike. I hope that Conservative and Libertarian pagans can use this as a bit of a haven from the din of leftist propaganda that permeates the majority of the pagan internet. If you’re a leftist who has stayed through to the end, I also bid you a hearty welcome, and encourage any discourse you’d like to engage in, so long as it’s constructive.
